Description
Mother Knows Best is short film comedy depicting Nanna, a single mother in Reykjavík and her twenty something son Gudni Geir who still lives with her. His mother is not in awe of any of his various girlfriends and seems determined to ruin all his relationships. When Gudni comes out to her their relationship changes drastically.
Mother Knows Best is Bardi Gudmundsson first film and he wrote the script as well. The producer Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir is well known for her documentaries and TV programs. This is the first fiction work she produces. The two main actors are well known in Iceland Ms. Helga Braga has an impressive resume in her home country and the script in fact was written with her in mind for the part. Mr. Vidir Gudmundsson as Gudni Geir is a young upcoming actor who has done work both in theatre and on film. He has a memorable part in the fiction film “Eleven Men Out”.
The film premiered at the San Francisco International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival in June and was extremely well received by the audience, which seemed to both love the humor and the concept of Mother Knows Best. The film will next screen at the Reykjavík International Film Festival and has been requested by a large number of festivals after the screening in San Francisco.
